What is Fostering?
Foster care is a system designed to provide temporary care for children who are unable to live with their biological families due to various reasons, such as abuse, neglect, or parental incapacity.
In foster care, these children are placed in the homes of trained caregivers, known as foster parents or foster families.
Can I foster?
Fostering children involves providing a stable, nurturing environment for those in need, often due to family circumstances. Prospective foster parents undergo assessments to ensure they can meet the emotional, physical, and practical needs of children.
Requirements vary by region, but typically involve background checks, training, and home inspections. Fostering demands patience, empathy, and flexibility, as children may have experienced trauma or require special care. While challenging, fostering can be profoundly rewarding, offering a chance to make a lasting, positive impact on a child's life by providing love, support, and stability during a critical period of their development.
Becoming a Foster Carer
Becoming a foster carer for A2C involves a comprehensive assessment process that we will conduct. This includes background checks, interviews, and home visits to ensure suitability. Approved carers receive training and ongoing support, including access to financial assistance and counselling services. There is also a weekly fee payable to each foster carer.

Once approved, our Carers are matched with children whose needs align with their abilities and preferences, with placements ranging from short-term emergency care to long-term arrangements. Our Carers work closely with professionals to meet the child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs, providing stability and guidance.

By opening your hearts and homes to vulnerable children, you as foster carers can make a profound difference to children’s lives, contributing to their welfare and resilience.
Fostering Allowance
In the UK, fostering allowances provide financial support to foster carers, assisting with costs associated with caring for children in foster care. These allowances vary based on factors such as the child's age, needs, and the region. They cover essentials like food, clothing, and transportation, with additional support for special needs.

Foster carers may also receive allowances for caring for children with disabilities. Fostering allowances are tax-exempt and may vary between regions and agencies. A2C offers a very generous package of financial allowances to its foster carers, reflecting our commitment to them. Prospective carers should contact A2C for specific details on fostering allowances.
